How can you affect debt consumption nationally?

Transcript:

There are two big ways you canhelp reduce debt consumption on a national level.  With the power of the internet and your vote, you can make a real impact nationally.

Let's look at the internet for some ways you make a real difference.

There is a world of blogs and forums that you can be apart of that you can input your opinion on consumer debt.

Crosswalk.com Finance Forums has a community of users that are seeking advice on spending and debt questions.  You can contribute your opinion on those subjects to help users stay away from debt.  PFBlogs.com is an aggregate site for a hundred personal finance blogs.  You can find a blog you are interested in and get good ideas about your own situation or comment on the blogs and contribute your support for reducing debt.  Finally, to help raise your voice about consumer debt, you can start your own blog through WordPress or Blogger and write about your finances or beliefs and news about consumer debt.  These internet based solutions are all ways to contribute nationally to the discussion about debt.

Also, you can help elect balanced budget representatives to Congress.  As our elected representatives they are our leaders and should lead by example.  However, we can all agree that overspending nationally is just as destructive as overspending in our family finances and does not provide a good example of leadership.  So, the next time you get the opportunity to vote, consider voting for a balanced budget representative to represent your beliefs on debt and spending.
